To Clear Some Things Up

I'll try to address each point separately.

1) Kuuga is on hiatus, not dropped.

Yes, we are aware this show has been on hiatus for a long time and that we did not returned to releasing within the time we said we would. This is the very reason we have not given any more word as to a date we will return to regularly subbing Kuuga. We don't want to make a promise of returning to subtitling Kuuga and for unforseen reasons not be able to do so, it's unfair and builds peoples hopes.
We don't want to start releasing again till we can do so regularly, so until we are in a place where we can again regularly release Kuuga it will remain on hiatus. We are still working on Kuuga and some of the episodes after 12 have been timed and looked over. We will continue doing what we can with episodes we're still to subtitle until we are able to return to regular releases so that when the time comes we won't have quite as much work to do.

2) Yes, we weren't the first to sub Kuuga.
Ok, so when we picked up Kuuga it wasn't exactly untouched, TV-Nihon, Order of Zeronos and /m/subs had all released episodes of Kuuga. Now to clarify, /m/subs have never got into contact with either myself or Syochan and did not offer to help. I am in no way getting at /m/subs in saying this, I actually quite like their subtitles for old mech shows, I just want to clarify that we received no word from /m/subs. We have nothing against /m/subs, Order of Zeronos or TV-Nihon and they all subtitled episodes of Kuuga before we had started.
We chose to start Kuuga from episode 1 because we wanted to subtitle it the way we prefer, we have nothing against the groups that subtitled Kuuga before us or how they chose to subtitle the show but it was not how we planned to subtitle Kuuga and we personally were committing ourselves to fully subbing Kuuga. We did not want to ask people to visit other subtitle groups to watch some episodes we haven't done. Though to clarify, this does not mean we are telling anyone to not watch their subtitles.

3) New groups are subbing Kuuga.
Ok, so Midnight Crew Subs have picked up Kuuga and are doing it at a fast pace plus there is another group that also planned to subtitle Kuuga (though in light of MCS picking it up I am unsure if they still plan to do so). We have no issue with this, we don't feel it in any way infringes upon what we're doing and anyone who wants more Kuuga now can easily go watch their subtitles.
We're not planning to joint with them, they have not asked us and we don't plan to ask them. We have no ill will against them and I wish them all the best in subbing Kuuga, but there is no reason for us to work together purely because we're subtitling the same series. We have different approaches and trying to have 2 groups with very different approaches work together will require compromise on both sides and may lead to arguments/drama.

4) None of us own Kuuga.
We don't own Kuuga, therefore we have no right nor reason to complain about MCS or anyone else subtitling the series. MCS did not ask our permission to subtitle this series and they have no reason to do so. We have nothing against them and they clearly have nothing against us considering they recommended people come to us for episodes 1-12 until they finish the series and then go back to subtitle the first 12 episodes.
The other group (who have yet to release an episode of Kuuga as far as I'm aware) did come to us over IRC and ask if we had any problems with them picking the series up. I replied with much the same as I have said above, that we don't own Kuuga and while we've not dropped the project there is no reason they can't also subtitle it.

5) Stop trolling or insulting any of the groups.
We worked to subtitle 12 episodes of Kuuga and are still committed to doing the same with the other 37 episodes. Subtitling is not fun surprisingly, I'm not saying it can't be enjoyed, but it does actually involve work and effort. No group needs to labour over giving you something for free only to be insulted. MCS are not asking you to have a go at us and we definitively are not asking you to have a go at them. Appreciate what you get, we are perfectly fine with constructive criticism and are well aware that there are plenty of people who appreciate the work we have done. However, this is not true of everyone and the internet is filled with people who will choose to attack us because we subtitled 12 episodes of Kuuga and offered them to people with no real benefit to ourselves, then stopped for a while to sort out our lives outside of the internet. Some people will read this and take it on board, others won't care. But I say it for the sake of the few who will take it on board and to make clear we're not asking anyone to have a go at MCS for any reason.

Firstly, sorry for the long delay. Got caught up wasting time playing a lot of games since february such as Yakuza 3, God of War 3, Hokuto Musou (Fist of the North Star), Star Ocean 4 Int, White Knight Chronicles Int, Ace Attorney Investigations, etc. Most of that's out of the way now. That and a few minor contract jobs.

Secondly, I did not delete anyone's comments. Comments on posts older than 2 weeks or so have to be moderated to prevent spamming and I've not looked at the blog or my emails in a while. Those comments have been restored as of this post.

I'll try my best to reorganize everything and return to schedule ASAP.

Also, I appologise to the people I didn't reply over IM when you asked but all of you seemed to ask only when I was asleep (which is impressive given my irregular sleeping pattern...)

Just a simple thanks to everyone that's been with us this year as we move into the next.

Now to answer the big question; we expect to be releasing again on the next RED EVENT of the year.

What many don't know is that SCS-W's main project, Kamen Rider Kuuga is handled by 3 main staffers (don't be fooled by the lengthy credits page!). First, there's me, Syochan (the one that moved but I'm all set up again), ZERO_ninja (who has university deadlines in January), and Breaker45 (who is abroad for the holiday period).

Because of the reasons stated above surrounding the staff, we do plan to release again once the holiday season passes so please be patient!

Well, I've mostly completed the major parts of my move over to Hong Kong now. I will probably return to subbing around the end of the month or so.

Setting that aside, the Gundam 30th anniversary festivities finally reaches Hong Kong with the Gundam Expo Hong Kong 2009! It's being held at the Metropolis Mall in Kowloon between December 17th to January 3rd. As with these events, there'll be plenty of limited gunpla up for sale there (poor wallet).

There's a promotion running with the MTR in Hong Kong ~~that I can aid those that are interested in acquiring these sets for themselve~~s. MTR are selling 2 timed promotions the, "MTR x Gundam Souvenir Ticket Set".

Are we abandoning Kuuga now after getting this far?

NO!

However, I (Syochan) will be relocated half way around the globe this time next week. As with all major reshuffles of lifestyle, I'll need time to reformat my life (new PC, setting up an internet connection, a job, etc).

So for these reasons and probably a few more that I'm ignoring right now, It'd be hard for me to work on fansubs for a while.

Rest assured though that we'll pick up where we left off as soon as possible!

Anyway, it was only a month ago that I made a post thanking everyone for reaching 1,000 and now we're on 5,000!

Wow. I don't know what to say.

After spending all of today trying to upload our files to MegaUpload with no success, due to their upload wizard failing or forgetting how much of the file was actually uploaded, it's been decided that we will stick to SendSpace for our DDLs.

If anyone wants to upload the file to other DDL sites and e-mail me the links we will list them as mirrors on the blog, but we will not upload to sites other than SendSpace ourselves.

If you do upload for us be sure to rar or zip the entire folder to upload so that the text file is still included rather than just the video and do not modify it in any way, thanks.

WinRAR for DDLs

It has come to my attention that some people aren't sure what to do with the DDL files as they are rar'd into 2 parts. Unfortunately this is unavoidable as 355mb is beyond what most DDL sites will take.

You can download WinRAR here. Once WinRAR is installed download both part 1 and part 2 into the same folder, right click either one and choose "Extract Here" from the drop down menu.

Since the DDL side of our releases will likely be split into parts because of size limitations on most DDL sites, it can get annoying to get the files.

Fear not, this handy program will (hopefully) ease your DDL days. The program in question is JDownloader.

This handy Java-based item acts as a linkgrabber and a download manager for most DDL sites. It'll even resume broken downloads for you.

Kuuga Preview v2 released

While ZERO_ninja's encoding the first episode of Kuuga, we thought we'd go over the trailer again and re-release it in preparation for the actual series.

A little background for the people who can be bothered reading: The Grongi (the 'monsters' appearing in Kuuga have their own language and as such need much time wasted in deciphering their words into Japanese, and then into English). At the time of translating the trailer, it sounded like the Grongi in it was imitation Grongi i.e. Japanese phrased/worded to sound Grongi-esque. Seeing as that wasn't the case, I went back over it using the handy but confusing Grongi/Japanese chart.

Yes, it's only two spoken lines and doesn't add anything of value new so it's not necessary to get this.

As we speak, ZERO_ninja will encode and watch #1 today before distributing it via DDL to the other QCs. If all things go smoothly, a public release should be in the next few days.

Yes, it's been a while since we did anything on these pages but rest assured, we're not dead.

Had the longwinded stuff like karaoke styles, fonts, etc to sort out pre-project finalization.

Since everything is pretty much sorted now, we just have to wait for ZERO_ninja to return from his weekend trip and we'll run an encode and fire that to the QC's.

After what seemed to be ages since I actually created this blog, we're finally ready to do something.

A few things to know about our group;

*We have no schedules so do not ask, please.

*We won't throw a lot of notes on screen since most people will only need to read them once.

*Said notes will be collected in a continuously updated .pdf file located in the respective project page.

*Our releases will currently only be available in .mp4 format and will be PS3/XBox360 compatible.

*We will encode from our own DVD sources when possible at the best levels we percieve as practical.

*We're mainly located in the United Kingdom and our bandwidth isn't ideal. Because of that, it'd be appreciated if people use the DDL and help seed the torrents afterwards. Thanks.
